The London Fashion Week as usual has managed to set the trends this season with some trail breaking pieces of art. With sixty young designers lined up to rob the show, the London Fashion Week turned out to be a more engaging fare than the New York equivalent.

Determined not to get left out of the excitement, famous designers from London also had lots of surprises up their sleeve. The event was full of theatrics and drama with Christopher Kane with his highly up to date collection of chiffon and leather pieces decorated with dinosaur type scales and Louise Goldin’s collection of 3D space wear, including some awesome going out dresses and party dresses. Other trend setters included John Rocha with his Celtic references, Julien Macdonald’s collection of beige robes and Paul Smith’s folklore prints. The London Fashion Week ultimately stopped as a trendsetter and a platform for original thought for a sector that grosses up to £4 billion a year.

One of the features was the minis - do they ever go out of fashion? The works of Schwab, Kane, Temperley, Jenny Packham, Nicoll and Peter Pilotti were breathtaking on this subject. We were also surprised to see overalls? Yes, full body dresses have leapt from function to fashion this season with designers like Jaeger London, Goldin, Wakeley showing some awfully fascinating works.

Some phenomenal work from the designers this year shows why the London fashion Week has been controlling the fashion planet for the last 25 years.
