Understand that each video portal has a community built into it - You should respect the other members & it is advised that you distribute positive notes about your competitors’ videos. 6 Questions Insurance Agents Must Ask Before Buying Internet Leads Saturday, Aug 23 2008

Top 6 Questions Insurance Agents Must Ask… Before Spending One Dime On Internet Leads!

DISCLAIMER: DYB Marketing “does not” sell leads of any sort and we “do not” work for any lead companies. DYB Marketing is a private marketing consulting firm in Minneapolis, MN. We have hundreds of insurance agents across the nation using our Success marketing systems. They buy and work internet insurance leads every day. The following information will be useful for any agent who currently buys or is thinking of buying internet insurance leads. To Your Success,

Mark Lundberg DYB Marketing

Save yourself time, money and frustrations… Don’t be ripped off buying Insurance Leads!

With the advent of the new SPAM laws, fax laws and “do not call” lists successful insurance agents across America are turning to the internet to get their piece of the insurance industry multi-trillion dollar pie!. Internet leads can be one of the fastest and most time and cost effective ways to build your insurance business.

Caveat Emptor - “Let The Buyer Beware!”

However, before blindly running out and purchasing any old internet leads, you’d be wise to know the answers to the following 6 questions before making the decision to pull out your wallet and your credit card.

Make it a habit to ask these questions of ALL internet lead suppliers. The honest ones won’t have a problem assisting you with answers. Beware of the others and move on. There’s no shortage of internet lead suppliers to choose from, so be selective.

1. Are the leads you generate available “EXCLUSIVE”?

This is a very important question. Many of the lead sources online today sell the same lead over and over again. Sometimes as many as 9 or more different times!

Some of them try to hide the fact that they resell one lead many times over. Others will say you have exclusive access for a limited-time. This can simply mean that after you’ve had it a day or two, they sell it again to someone else. Exclusive leads will be more expensive than a non-exclusive lead. I tend to look for a lead supplier who puts specific limits to the number of times their lead is sold. 3-5 times maximum is a good rule of thumb.

TIP: Many folks who shop the internet are professional shoppers. Even though you pay higher prices from a reputable lead supplier for an exclusive lead doesn’t mean these people aren’t getting quotes from other sources. You’ll still need to differentiate yourself with superior service in order to close the deal. 2. Are the leads delivered to me in REAL-TIME?

Some lead suppliers don’t have the ability to deliver your leads to you in real-time. That should send up a red flag. The sooner you receive the lead from the time a person has requested an insurance quote the more likely they are to be near their phone and ready to talk and take action. The “real time” lead is simply a better quality lead that will help you increase your close ratio and provide a better return on investment. My definition of “real time” is less than 2 hours.

3. Can I control my LEAD DELIVERY? Your “leads delivery” should be at a rate you can comfortably handle them. The best close ratio occurs when you immediately follow up with a lead as soon as you get it. The more time that passes the less your chance of getting the sale. You can waste a whole lot of time and money if you overload your plate with too many leads. Ask if you can turn the leads off in the event you need to stop delivery to catch up or take some time off. Your first sales challenge with internet leads is to adapt your selling systems to internet time. It’s important that you follow up with web prospects quickly, within minutes, if possible, but certainly within hours after receiving a lead. We live in a society of instant gratification so strive for speedy first contact. If you don’t, your competitors will. Experiment with a few leads to determine what’s best for your situation.

4. Can I return BAD LEADS?

Many lead suppliers will not allow you to exchange or return bad leads you receive from them. We’ve found that even with validity checks on leads submitted, some leads still get through with bad information. A reputable lead supplier will always do a favorable exchange with you. Clarify this point upfront and save unnecessary headaches.

Therefore, make sure that the company you do business with has a liberal return policy and has it clearly stated on their website. TIP: Some companies say they refund a maximum of 10%-15% of the total leads purchased. Use this percentage as a negotiating point when purchasing leads. Also ask the company what makes a lead returnable? What makes the lead invalid? Different companies have different policies on what constitutes a bad lead. If the lead company is too hard to deal with on this point, find another one.

5. Can you offer a REDIRECT? A redirect means that when a prospect submits the survey that generates the lead, the system has the ability to “redirect” that lead to your own email address or website. If the company is not able to offer you a redirect ask them to explain why.

Many times when a company cannot provide a redirect it’s because they are generating leads from “Co-Reg” pages. A “Co-Reg” or Co-registration is when a person signs up for a newsletter or some other information. They are given the option to get more information on other companies by clicking 5 or more checkboxes. Often they are forced to select at least 3 or more. These are VERY LOW quality leads and most times the prospect isn’t even in the market for your insurance products. You have to be careful that the lead is not an “Incentivized Lead”. Many websites offer users incentives to fill out forms. In exchange for filling out these forms users are given points towards the purchase of merchandise or free samples sometimes even money. These leads will empty your wallet very fast with 0% return on your investment.

6. Do you have FILTERING ABILITY? It takes as much time and effort to close and write an application that provides a $150 commission as it does to write an application that provides a $1500 commission. With that in mind, filtering is a process that allows you to cherry pick the higher potential prospects. Lead suppliers charge more for filtering but many times it’s worth it. For instance, you may only want to deal with 45-55 year old non-smoking men with annual incomes over $100,000 looking for $1,000,000 of term life insurance. There are significantly less leads available that meet this criteria but the commission potential is significantly higher. After you purchase good quality leads your next challenge is closing a higher percentage of them. To explore the secrets top insurance producers don’t want you to know check out the two sites below:

DYB Marketing first became involved in the insurance industry in March 2004. We developed our first insurance marketing system for the new consumer driven health care products. Since then we’ve released our second marketing system for selling term life insurance over the phone. Hundreds of successful insurance agents across America utilize these simple step by step sales processes for creating amazing commissions.

Overcoming Insecurities Thursday, Aug 21 2008

Walking into the room, my heart pounds. Averting all eye contact, I make my way to the back row, certain no one will desire to talk with me. I will remain alone and unnoticed, as if I am the only one in the room. The meeting over, I leave quietly having accomplished nothing other than the monumental task of showing up. I leave empty with a sense of having missed out once again.

* * * * * * * * * *

Does this experience sound familiar? I’ve let this scenario play out in my life too many times. I say allowed because that is exactly what I did. I chose to allow the experience to be negative instead of positive. I now feel free from acting isolated and alone. Knowing that I can choose a more powerful strategy for interacting, I no longer feel weak and empty in these public interchanges.

Many friends tell me I always appear so confident when I walk into a room and that I seem to know everyone. Here is the truth about that: I’m not and I don’t! I experience the same fears and insecurities as everyone else. The difference is (most of the time) I choose not to let these fears and insecurities prevent me from experiencing the joys of life. I would much rather leave a room knowing I made others feel connected and noticed and in the process, receive much joy.

Recently, I attended a conference where I knew no one. I had exchanged emails with many other attendees, but had never met any of them face to face. At dinner one evening I found myself looking into the faces of people I knew very little or nothing about. I had a choice to make. I could choose to keep my eyes on my food, speak only when spoken to and just endure the hour or two I was going to be with them. Or, I could take a deep breath, look them in the eyes, and ask personal questions with the goal of making them feel noticed and valued. It didn’t matter if they asked me any questions. What was going to matter to me was that my dinner companions walk away feeling like they had a new friend and that someone cared.

What did this cost me? NOTHING. What did I gain? A deep sense of confidence and joy in the knowledge that my interactions had built others up and made their own experience more enjoyable.

Confidence comes from within. Confidence does not distinguish between plain or beautiful people. The plainest person can have all the confidence in the world: a person of outward beauty can be riddled with insecurities.

The mind is a funny thing. It can play games with us. Our minds can be filled with lies about who we are or are not and what kind of value we are to this world.

Let me tell you a little secret. You were fearfully and wonderfully made, God did not make any mistakes. You were created to be of value to this world, just as you are. Each one of us brings value through our uniqueness. No one can fill YOUR place in the world like you can.

Today or tomorrow, or very soon, you’ll enter a situation where fear and anxiety may begin to plague you. Here’s what I want you to do:

1. Take a deep breath

2. Pull your shoulders back and keep your head up

3. Walk confidently to your destination

4. Look people in the eye

5. Greet others with a confident handshake (I prefer hugs)

6. Ask questions of others

7. Walk away knowing you made some feel valued and noticed

* * * * * * * * *

I take a deep breath, pull my shoulders back, keep my head up and walk with confident expectation into the room. I glance around to see who’s there, making eye contact and giving people a smile. I notice a woman sitting all alone and walk over to her. I ask if the chair next to her is taken. She looks at me with a startled gaze, tells me it’s not, and I sit down. I introduce myself and only a few quick questions begin to reveal all we have in common.

Throughout the meeting we banter back and forth, enjoying ourselves and the ease our new relationship has added to our experience. As the evening closes, we can’t believe how quickly time has past. Each of us has had a more pleasurable evening, made a new friend and have someone new to wave to across a conference room tomorrow. We each leave with confidence boosted, with friendship affirmed, and with a sense of joyful belonging.

Installing Wireless Access Points Thursday, Aug 14 2008

Installing Multiple Wireless Access Points

1. Install one wireless Access Point to test range

2. Assign each wireless access point a unique IP address

3. Each wireless access point will have the Same SSID

4. All wireless access points will have the same encryption key

5. Point wireless antennas towards the center of the network

1. Finding your Wireless Range - Wireless access points will have a range of about 75-100ft inside, and outside (depending on your wireless antenna) miles. If you live in an older brick home your wireless signal range can be greatly reduced.. To find your wireless signal range and signal strength you will need to install one wireless access point in the middle of your work area and measure the signal. You can use a program called netstumbler to help you with this task. Once you have achived the necessary wireless signal overlap then you will be able to roam through out your work or business. Your wireless adapter software will choose the access point with the strongest signal but this will be transparent to the user

2. Unique IP -Next you will want to assign all your AP’s with a unique IP address not a dynamic IP address. Do not use the same IP adderess for each AP.

3. Configure AP’s - Configuring two or three wireleess access point is not very hard but when you have to configure more than that it can become time consuming. Thus some wireless routers will come with software that will allow you to configure one access point which will then configure all of your other access point for you.

4. Same SSID - Use the same SSID for each access point on your network. This will give you the ability to roam with out having to choose each network when you move.

5. Encryption /AuthenticationWireless Antennas - Choose which type of antenna you will need. Try to purchase directional antennas instead of using the default omni-directional antennas. Directional antennas will funnel your wireless signal towards your operational areas.

7. Placement - Try not to place your AP by outer walls. If you need to place your AP buy outside walls then try to use a reflector. This will help your signal stay inside your house as much as possible.

How to be a Successful Model If You are Not Six Feet Tall Tuesday, Aug 12 2008

When you think of modeling, do you picture 16 year old, waifish thin and very exotic looking girl? If so,think again. Even though the modelng business is oversaturated with the most beautiful women in the world, an average-looking person can still have a nitche within the business.

Fashion modeling is the most prestigious category of the modeling industry, because about a dozen of fashion models have actually achieved the status of celebrities.Fashion modeling industry is not open to everyone and has very strict standards: height, weight, age and measurement requirements. Fashion models have to stay very thin to fit the clothes they are modeling, and even though many people in the industry might deny it, the pressure to have zero body fat is enormous in the fashion world. If you are tall and thin and lucky enough to have an agent who’d send you to castings (meetings with clients or photographers who can potentially hire you,) be prepared to do about six meetings a day, which wouldn’t necessarily result in any jobs.

If you are lucky enough to actually get a modeling job, most editorial projects (such as magazines) don’t pay a lot, and it takes an average fashion model a few years to build up her portfolio to start getting big fashion campaigns and other high-paying modeling gigs.

Travel for fashion shows or for editorial work can be exhausting, and many young women have trouble coping with pressure, related to the industry and its standards. Therefore - drug use, eating disorders, unfinished education and other issues, mentioned way too frequently in the media.

Not everything about the world of fashion modeling is dark and hard, but unfortunately, there are very few models who can actually make it to the top and enjoy the fame and fortune it offers. The biggest problem of fashion modeling today is competition. Because the industry has been raised to its highly prestigious status, it is simply impossible to provide all gorgeous hopefuls with enough work. This is why many aspiring fashion models give up modeling after spending six months in a tiny model apartment in Paris or Milan, watching their hungry roommates steal their food or do drugs.

I remember leaving home at 17 and going to Milan on a contract with a big fashion agency. I lived in a two-bedroom apartment with five other models, who all had eating disorders to some degree. Some girls did drugs. The atmosphere overall was extremely competitive, which reflected the way fashion modeling operates in general. The way my roommates greeted me was always the same: “So, are you working tomorrow? What are you shooting for? How much does it pay?”

The most common misconception about modeling is that the industry revolves around fashion. Closer look reveals, however, that fashion modeling is not the only option for someone who tries to be a model.

You can choose many different paths in her career, focusing on one direction or trying out a few.

Commercial, fitness, fit and showroom, glamour and fetish, artistic, convention and parts modeling could be easier, less competitive and healthier options for the aspiring models.

“There is simply more money in commercial print. You can make $3000 a day,” says Frank Marsi, commercial photographer, “You can also work much longer, there are commercial models in their late thirties.”

Have you seen cell-phone ads? They usually feature good looking, but not outrageously gorgeous people. This is how commercial models look like. Catalogues, some billboards, most advertisements and TV commercials use commercial models. As long as there is advertising, there is a need for people who look right to sell the product.

The height and weight requirements in commercial modeling are not as drastic as in fashion, and they very from job to job. A catalogue, for example, would require a taller model for clothes to look good, but an anti-balding shampoo ad would feature a middle-aged gentleman, who’d be the perfect model for that particular product.

I remember shooting for a commercial job for a pajama catalogue about a year ago. All I had to do was sit on a sofa wearing a pajama and pretend to be reading. I made $1300 that day.

To become a commercial model, you would need a composite card with about five pictures that look natural and pretty. Start by finding a good local commercial photographer, who’d shoot your photos. Then you can visit modeling agencies and show them your photos. Always check up on the photographer’s or agency’s reputation by asking for references, before committing to anything.

To get into the world of TV commercials, the best option is to send your headshots to casting directors who cast for commercial work. If they like you for a commercial role, you’d have to audition. If you do get the part, the pay could be anywhere from $10000 and up.

Fitness modeling is obviously for the fit. Protein bar ads, health shakes ads, sports clothes ads, fitness magazines - they all use fitness models. Muscle And Fitness magazine photographer Brian Moss finds most of his models at fitness conventions and contests, although he sometimes looks for his models on the internet.

Moss says that fitness modeling is easy to break into, if you have the right look.” I found this girl once and told her she’d have a cover in a year. She ended up doing two covers,” Moss says.

Fitness models should have great muscle definition and work out regularly. “There are many girls, there are many beautiful bodies, but there are very few beautiful girls with beautiful bodies. I mean, athletic, of course,” Moss says.

The pay for fitness magazine shoots is about $150 a day. “You shouldn’t confuse publicity with money,” says Moss. Magazine jobs could lead to doing commercial fitness work, which pays more.

The best place for a fitness model to start her career is to get involved with contests and fitness conventions, info on which could be found on the Internet.

Fit and showroom modeling could be somewhat boring work, but it pays well. Showrooms pay about $300 a day and fittings pay $100-$200 an hour. Showroom models show the clothing samples to clients. Generally, showroom work is booked through agencies and it is very seasonal - it’s busy after the fashion show season.

I’ve done a lot of bridal showroom work, where I tried on a lot of wedding dresses for a week or so. The work was exhausting, because you have to stay on your feet for the whole day, but I was happy with the pay.

Fittings involve trying on samples of designer clothing, having your measurements taken and telling the designer how does the garment feel. Fit models have to be a specific size.

Michelle Rogo, booker from Fit agency in New York says that the best part about being a fit model is that “you are in a comfortable atmosphere all the time, without too much hostility or competition.” Female fit models range from size four to size 14, but size eight gets the most work For males it’s the medium size that fits the most.

Fit models can keep working for a very long time as long as they keep their measurements. “Our oldest model gets the most work and she is in her 50’s,” says Rogo.

I do fit modeling quite frequently. It’s not the most glamorous of industries, but the pay is certainly worth it. I have a company that hires me for a week of fittings couple of times a year and I am always looking forward to these weeks!

The best way to become a fit model would be to visit your local fashion design school. Calling modeling agencies and asking if they have a fit division helps, too. More independent-minded fit models can try calling clothing companies directly.

Glamour, fetish and artistic modeling are for the brave among us. If you decide to model in these categories, be prepared to take your clothes off. There is a big debate going on about the differences between those three styles, but generally, glamour photographs involve at least partial nudity and lingerie, artistic photos are usually black and white and require full nudity, while fetish is everything in between, sometimes involving leather, chains and/or fishnets.

To model in these exciting, but risky categories, you have to be at least 18 years old. There is more work for females, so male models should probably concentrate on other areas. Modeling agencies aren’t the best source of unconventional or nude work, so you might want to check out some web resources, such as glamourmodels.com or garageglamour.com. When dealing with web photographers, don’t forget to ask for samples of their work and references, because safety is very important.

For those with exceptionally beautiful body parts, such as hands, feet, etc. there is parts modeling. To get into this huge and well-paying market you would need photos of your best body part to show to modeling agencies in your area. For more information, visit partsmodels.com

Modeling can be very fun, exciting and well-paid work that doesn’t have to involve starving and breaking your high heels while walking to millions of castings. If you really want to model, you are likely to find your niche in that business. And remember, the most important qualities that make a good model, regardless of the category she or he chooses to work in, are: confidence, patience, persistence, and punctuality.

Good luck!

Screenwriting: Psycho (1969) Deconstructed Saturday, Aug 9 2008

From our deconstruction of hundreds of Hollywood blockbusters at www.managing-creativity.com/

The Hero’s Journey is the template upon which the vast majority of successful stories and Hollywood blockbusters are based upon. In fact, ALL of the Hollywood movies we have deconstructed are based on this template.

Understanding this template is a priority for story or screenwriters.

The Hero’s Journey:

a) Attempts to tap into unconscious expectations the audience has regarding what a story is and how it should be told.

b) Gives the writer more structural elements than simply three or four acts, plot points, mid point and so on.

c) Interpreted metaphorically, laterally and symbolically, allows an infinite number of varied stories to be created.

and more…
