The Home Travel Agent - Less Traveled Wednesday, Sep 10 2008

Last month when I saw my friend Carol she was running off to her job, with a plate of PTA cookies in one hand and a laptop case in the other.

She look stressed.

So imagine my surprise when I ran into her yesterday morning wearing jeans and looking rested.

I asked if she’d taken the day off work and she said she’d given up the commute to work at home. She told me she’d never trusted the work-at-home offers but had actually found a great legitimate home based businesses.

She is a travel agent and works her own schedule, spending time with the kids and enjoying life.

And, as I told her, looking fabulous.

The thing I wanted more than anything for the last five years was to leave the commute behind me and retire.

But neither my income nor my savings would allow me to do that.

So I went to work finding legitimate home based businesses. After a few months of searching I found that I would be able to work at home and supplement my retirement income.

I set up a small home office, began writing part-time, and am collecting a retirement check.

Besides the fact that I can now spend time with my grandchildren, garden, and travel, I found that I love the work I do at home and am enjoying being a writer.

What is Network Marketing and How Does It Work? Monday, Jun 30 2008

• Many network marketing plans are based on providing a home shopping service.

• You can save money on a wide range of goods and services you use on a daily basis by purchasing these goods at cost price.

• You also save time by having these goods delivered to your door. You can do your shopping using the internet.

• If you are happy with the service and the products, then the companies that manufacture the goods will pay you commission if you recommend the homeshopping service to others. It works very much along similar lines to loyalty points that you earn in supermarkets. The only difference is that here you are rewarded with a monthly cheque rather than money off coupons.

• These products and services are used by every person in the world day after day, giving repeat business and a steady income.

• The size of the business and income is unlimited because you don’t have to do all the work yourself and the business operates in over 80 countries world wide.

• The network marketing idea is simple and has been described as the ideal business.

• Quite simply having used the products and services and providing you are happpy with these high quality and cost effective products, it is easy for you to recommend the products to others. When you think about it you do this all the time when you recommend a good restaurant, clothes shop, plumber etc,

• You make money when people sign up to the home shopping service and a network of people using the service develops below you. You explain to these people that by joining this home shopping service, they can make money as well as save money.

• At the end of each month the network marketing company calculates the total number of points earned by all the shoppers in your network. It’s a little bit like the loyalty points you earn when you shop at the supermarket.

• However the big difference is that you get loyalty points for all the the shoppers in your network and those points earn you a commission cheque each month.

• I would be delighted to provide you with further FREE information about this fascinating concept.

MLM Recruiting Success- The MLM Recruiting Myth in Network Marketing Wednesday, Jun 18 2008

There is a Myth, a Lie, a Bogus concept that has been promoted to the MLM Industry for years, and recently in a seminar, I was asked during one of the breaks about it.

So many ideas and concepts are promoted in this industry that DO work, but on the other hand, there are many that don’t work, but yet they still promoted with fervor and fire.

One such idea is The MLM Recruiting Myth.

What is the recruiting myth that has been focused on but yet has proven to not work? This one has been promoted for years, and has had a negative impact on tens of thousands of distributors.

I am going to get some heat over this, but I would rather catch the heat, and tell the truth, than not.

INFERNO Secret:

MLM Recruiting is NOT just a Numbers game, as much as a CONNECTION and CONVICTION game.

Did you get that?

Network Marketing Recruiting is NOT just a Numbers game, but a Connecting and Conviction process.

Why?

I cannot tell you how many folks in Network Marketing have told me that they have worked a TON of numbers, but have yet to strike Gold in this business. And I recently saw a list of calls a distributor had made. She had made over 800 calls and over 500 people talked to in a certain time period. And yet the person had recruited only 2 people.

2 PEOPLE!

What’s Missing here? What’s the problem?

Let’s take a look at what she did:

1) The Numbers were there.

2) The Names were there.

3) The Phone calls where there.

4) The Effort was there.

5) The long distance bill was there.

But why was this sweet young lady still struggling and not finding the Success she was seeking?

GOOD QUESTION!

There is a “Lack Of” Factor in MLM Success that destroys many a business, and future in MLM.

What is that Lack Factor?

It was due to a Lack of Connection, and Conviction in many respects.

She lacked a TRUE Connection to the MLM Industry, her company, her products, and the income potential that was there before her. Her heart was simply NOT connected to it. She was NOT working this business, but only TRYING it. And people were FEELING that in her words, and perceived that as a negative. She was focused on what SHE could get out of it, not what the prospect could gain from her call.

People today are too sharp and experienced because of the onslaught of Telemarketers, to pay attention to most sales calls. And the ones they do pay attention to, even with friends, are the ones they CONNECT with, and feel the Conviction of the person and the willingness to help Increase, Expand, Enlarge, and Empower their life and future.

I asked this lady to say what she said to the 500 calls and I listened. And I just shook my head. This woman was working the numbers right, but working the MLM prospects totally WRONG. It was a sales pitch, and there was really no Conviction or Connection in her voice. There was only a sales pitch and an “I want your money” focus.

INFERNO Secret:

You can work all the numbers you want, but if the prospect is not communicated to CORRECTLY with Connection and Conviction, you have wasted most of the calls and your time.

Ok, here is the Million Dollar question:

How do you create Connection and Conviction?

INFERNO Secret:

Recruit them through THEIR eyes, not yours.

People join Direct Sales/MLM companies for THEIR reasons, not yours. And if you talk to 500 people and don’t take the time to see what is important to them and what they want to change and improve in their life, one thing for sure is NOT going to happen:

They won’t HEAR you. They might be listening, but they won’t hear what you are saying.

Find something you can relate to with them. Find something you have in common about the future. Find something that they want to change in their life and show them how your company can help bring that change about. And then display a sincere Conviction in helping them obtain it with your company and the business it offers.

You MUST understand that Numbers ARE important in Network Marketing. But just as in any other thing, the WAY you work the numbers is just as important, if not more important. Don’t be seduced with the myth that all you need are just numbers.

You need the MLM CONNECTION and CONVICTION to go along with it. They will make your efforts 10 times more powerful, and your check 10 times more exciting!

Information Gained From Web Analysis Is Essential For Internet Marketing Sunday, Jun 1 2008

Web analysis or web log analysis is the process by which one finds out the typical usage of the internet for any given category of variables. It searches or “parses” the logs of popular servers to compile the data into useable, legible forms. This is necessarily done with computer software because the log is constructed of code that is not readable to the human and untrained eye and needs to be separated out and translated into useable information. The software that is used to do this is called a parser and is most often generated by another script that is called a parser generator. Multiple parsers are necessary as there are multiple forms or languages in which the web logs can be organized.

So what kind of information can you gain with web analysis tools and why is it so essential for success in the internet marketing sector? All of the information that is gained is in terms of numbers of events that involve sites located on a particular server. This would include number of visitors, number of unique visitors, the days of the week and times of day for those visits, the links visited from that page, the search engines used, and the keywords/phrases that were used to get to that site. As you can imagine this is invaluable information when you are trying to market to a certain population if you know that populations tendencies on a huge scale. It is these trends that make internet marketing the “science” that it is.

Imagine with me for a moment that you want to start to make money on the internet but you have no idea where to start. I would suggest that you start with some research which is smart in any area of business that you want to get into. The research in this case would be carried out by a parser, or web analysis tool. You can then find things out like the top 10 sales pages visited for the previous month, previous six months, previous year, etc. With this information you now have a good idea of what is selling on the internet. Now you need to know how to sell it right? Well with the same tool you can find out what pages were used most to sell/buy that product that you have chosen. You can also find out the keywords that were used and the search engines that ranked that site high.

As you can see this is the very basis on which all of internet marketing is built on. Knowledge in this industry is power and web analysis is how you get this power. There are many tools each with there pros and cons. Try them out (many have a trial period) and find which you are most comfortable with and start making money!

At 21 Boyd Troublerr is certainly new to the scene of web analysis, but being trained at a premier business school in internet commerce makes him no less qualified than senior writers in this exciting field. For more go to www.webanalysishelp.info.

The Book Signing Sunday, Jun 1 2008

Tomorrow night is my first Local Writers Fair. I’ve been looking forward to this one for a long time. Ten authors will gather in a little room behind tables full of books in a historic library in Canandaigua, N.Y. It’s been advertised heavily and the excitement has been building for weeks.

Just for this occasion, I bought a new table cover from the fabric department at Walmart. It’s a deep, cobalt blue with a fine pattern. The black-framed photos of the Genesee Valley will stand against the blue. I hemmed and hawed, solicited “how to buy this stuff” help from the nice lady behind the counter (who, by the way, is an avid mystery fan) and finally bought four yards of it. Twelve feet????? Yeah, but it’ll work. Better to have too much than too little. Kind of my gardening philosophy extended into the world of fabric!

Anyway, this morning I started to worry about what to wear. What to wear? Not typically a subject I get too concerned about… I looked in the closet and sighed. What do “authors” wear? Black turtlenecks and corduroys? Heck no, not for May. A plaid wool shirt and a pipe to chew on? Nope. It’s spring, for goodness sakes! So, I settled on a long-sleeved black button down shirt and camel-colored Dockers.

I even took out the tooth-whitening paraphernalia last night. Me? Worried about white teeth? Well, heck, I’m gonna be smiling all over the place. I can’t have disgusting yellow teeth! So, I suffered during sleep with the set of molds on my teeth with all that white goo sliding around in my mouth. I woke up with the bottom set missing! Finally, I found it under my pillow. And no, there was no quarter from the tooth fairy.

I drove to work this morning, going through my mental checklist. Bookmarks. Books. Handouts. Poster. Scotch tape to hang the poster. Double-sided tape to keep the fabric from sliding off the table. Suddenly I felt this little itchy bump on my nose. I looked in the rear view mirror and there it was! A monstrous cold sore was forming RIGHT on top of my nose! It’s a noteworthy one this time, a good quarter inch plus in size. It’s gonna be a whopper. Kind of makes me look like a drunk.

So, with whitened teeth, carefully selected clothes, a beautiful table cover, I will smile and chat with this remarkably noticeable nose and hope that they look at the cover of Double Forte’ more than they do my ugly mug.
I feel like I’m fourteen again.

Leaflet marketing and risk Thursday, May 1 2008

The biggest risk is that that if your distribution is shared with other material, your leaflet may not be read at all. Often when a pile of ‘junk mail’ arrives on the doormat of your potential client, their temptation is to pick up the whole lot, and throw your professionally designed, carefully worded leaflet straight into the bin. When planning the intricacies of a leaflet distribution campaign, one will have to choose between ’solus’ or shared distribution. ‘Solus’ simply means that the flyer is distributed on its own - no other material from any other company (conflicting or not) will go through the letterbox with your leaflet. This is widely regarded as the preferable option, owing to the far superior return rates that one can expect from this method.Shared distribution is of course, the direct opposite, and involves, as the name suggests, sharing your door drop with a number of other companies. Naturally, this will reduce the costs involved, but return rates are difficult to ascertain, and lower doorstep recognition may also hamper your own back checking and verification process. The biggest risk is that that if your distribution is shared with other material, your leaflet may not be read at all. Often when a pile of ‘junk mail’ arrives on the doormat of your potential client, their temptation is to pick up the whole lot, and throw your professionally designed, carefully worded leaflet straight into the bin.No form of advertising produces instant response, and doing one door drop will not make you millions. Building brand recognition is hard work, and can take months, even years to achieve. It’s easy to fall at the first hurdle and get disheartened when the enquiries don’t come flooding in from the very first drop. Conducting a targeted leaflet distribution campaign over a period of time, dropping to the same houses each week is certainly not the easy way out, and will never be regarded as a quick fix

The Unbelievably Easy Web Site Marketing Solution Monday, Apr 21 2008

Back when internet business started booming, banner exchanges was
a popular way to advertise a website. An online advertising
banner is generally placed on a website that is relevant to yours
for the purpose of advertising your website and driving traffic
to your website.

Banner advertising has declined in popularity and has, in many
cases, been replaced with link exchanges rather than banner
exchanges. However, publishing an online advertising banner on
websites that still use online advertising banners either through
exchanges or for paid advertising is still an effective method of
internet marketing.

Many companies that have affiliates marketing their products and
services provide affiliates with an online advertising banner to
be placed on their website or in their newsletters and other
publications for the purpose of promoting their products and
services and directing traffic to the parent website through an
affiliate link.

At any rate, advertising through a paid or exchanged online
advertising banner is an internet marketing technique that is
still alive and well although the use of on online advertising
banner has declined in popularity.

Because of the diminished popularity of online advertising banner
campaigns, websites that sell online advertising banner space are
generally very inexpensive resources for paid advertising and
sometimes placement of an online advertising banner can even be
free. Most sites that engage in online advertising banner
placement for a fee offer either a pay-per-impression option or a
pay-per-click option.

Pay-per-impression is the most common program for placing an
online advertising banner, but it is also pretty risky because
with such programs you are paying for exposure to your online
advertising banner rather than your fees being tied to the
results it produces.

Pay-per-click programs that use an online advertising banner are
much more reasonable and cost effective than pay-per-impression
services. With a pay-per-click program, you only pay for click-
throughs to your website that result from clicks on your online
advertising banner. When participating in a pay-per-click online
advertising banner program, you are more likely to reap benefits
from your advertising dollars.

To get free exposure from an online advertising banner, it is
best to join a banner exchange network, or to contact relevant
websites yourself and ask them to exchange online advertising
banner ads with you. In effect, you display their online
advertising banner and they display yours, so it is a win-win
situation in that you each get free advertising space.

In regard to the design of an online advertising banner, it needs
to be produced using sound graphic techniques so that the banner
ad loads quickly. A slow loading online advertising banner simply
will not produce results because internet users do not have the
patience to wait for graphics to load.

The information contained in an online advertising banner has to
be pretty concise because of the size limitations that are
generally associated with an online advertising banner.

While being brief and to the point is necessary when creating the
copy for an online advertising banner, the information provided
on the banner has to attract attention, provoke internet and
persuade the viewer of the online advertising to banner to take
action - to click on the online advertising banner so they will
be directed to your website.

A well designed online advertising banner will be effective if it
loads quickly, captivates attention and results in click-
throughs. To meet the criteria for effectiveness, both design and
copywriting issues must be considered, so it may be beneficial to
work with both a graphic designer and a professional copywriter
to produce an effective online advertising banner.

It is also vital that the online advertising banner be placed
where it will be viewed by your target audience, so relevance of
the websites on which your online advertising is placed is of
utmost importance.

Communicating Our Attitude Thursday, Apr 10 2008

The goal of successful marketing is to create long lasting relationships with your prospects by marketing your business with passion. When you’re not excited about what you’re doing, no one else will be either. Our passion for what we do in business is communicated through our attitude. Our attitude comes shining through in a variety of ways. How can you create an attitude that paves the way to success for you and your business?

1. You are what you speak. The words we use say everything about who we are and what we are about. Our spoken words are probably one of the most obvious ways we communicate our attitude to others. Think about what you say before you speak. Will it serve to build connection, community or relationship with others? If not, consider saying something else or even saying nothing. There’s a lot of wisdom in the words …”if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”

2. Dress for success. How you dress and the colors you wear communicate a lot about who you are. Find clothing that accents your best features. Make sure your clothes are properly tailored, neat, and wrinkle-free. If necessary, work with a personal shopper who can help you select apparel that is stylish and fits for the image that you wish to communicate. Consider how different colors look on you and how they make you feel. Wear clothes that you enjoy so you’ll come across in a more powerful way with potential customers or clients. While “clothes don’t make the man or woman”, they certainly speak volumes about what we think about ourselves and what we wish to project.

3. Be punctual. Thomas C. Haliburton said, “Punctuality is the soul of business.” Arriving on time for customer meetings, speaking engagements, meetings with vendors, or anything else you do in your business, shows that you respect others. Respect is the foundation for creating great long-term relationships with your clients. Showing up and on time is one of the best ways to show someone that you care about them. By keeping your commitments to others, you are acknowledging them and their needs. Caring about your customers must be your number one priority since it is through your relationships that you build your business. No one knows how much you care until you show them… by showing up.

4. Respond to emails several times each day. Nowadays, email is the most frequently used method of communication. Make it a goal to answer emails within eighthours. If you cannot answer emails during that timeframe, at least send back a reply that you have received the person’s email and that you will respond by a certain date and time. Never leave people wondering about whether you’ve received their email or not. If you don’t answer promptly, you are perceived as not being on top of things, that you aren’t detail oriented or, worse, that you don’t care about your customers. Don’t hesitate when it comes to communications. Set aside a couple times per day when you will concentrate solely on reading and replying to your email.

5. Return calls within hours. Time is of the essence when it comes to doing business. The difference between getting a new client can hinge on returning a phone call in a timely manner. You never know when you might be missing a time critical opportunity. A prompt response communicates an attitude that you value serving others and that you respect their time and their deadlines. In today’s competitive environment, if people don’t get the prompt attention they desire, it’s easy for them to seek out your competitor. Avoid missing opportunities to grow your business; plan two to three times each day to return calls.

6. Take responsibility. We communicate our attitude through the responsibilities we take upon ourselves. People can sense when we take full responsibility for our actions and the resulting outcomes. We communicate an aura of strength, confidence and leadership, which makes us even more attractive to the people with whom we do business. Think about how you can step up and take even more responsibility for your business and the results you achieve.

7. Take action. Successful business owners are people in action. They don’t wait for life to happen, they make life happen. Taking action communicates an attitude of excitement and accomplishment, which others find extremely attractive. Action tells others that you are a leader, that you move things forward, that you can make things happen, and most important, that you are confident doing what needs to be done. Just as people watch things that move, they watch people that move.

8. Body language. Along with the words that we speak, our bodies are probably the next most obvious way that we communicate our attitude to others. It’s as if we are walking billboards. Everything from your facial gestures to the way you sit and position your arms and legs, communicates volumes about who you are and your attitude towards others. Observe people who exhibit positive, open, and welcoming body language and try to emulate them. Read about body language and create a new way of being that represents what you most want to convey. One book I recommend is I Know What You’re Thinking by Dr. Lillian Glass.

9. Change your thinking; change your attitude. We all know that thoughts influence how we feel. They also influence the words we speak as well as our body language. Our thoughts become the filters through which we perceive the world. By changing our thoughts, we’ll automatically change our attitude. We wear our thoughts everywhere we go. Make sure you’re showing your best self at all times.

10. Smile. A smile is the universal sign of welcome and friendship. Nothing warms the heart of another, melts the tension of a situation, or endears people to us, than delivering a smile with sincerity. Practice smiling at everyone and everything. Incorporate it as a healthy habit. Not only does a smile affect others, it has an automatic effect on how you perceive everything around you. People are attracted to people who make them feel good. Start attracting people to you and your business by wearing a smile.

Affiliate Programs - How to Pick the Solid Ones Wednesday, Apr 9 2008

If you’ve surfed the internet long enough, you must’ve found so many merchants offering Affiliate Programs. But the tricky thing is to choose the solid ones for your niche.

This is very important, because your reputation is on stake here! Joining the wrong affiliate programs will only hurt your online business.

First of all, it is almost impossible for you to collect adequate informations on those merchant companies. You certainly can’t investigate them thoroughly. Hence, you will never be able to predict their successes or failures.

That’s why you must not stress on one single merchant only within your niche.

Pick a couple of the best quality products to promote. Still, you can do some critical researches to reduce risk.

OK, now let’s see how we can pick the goods from the bads. Here are some factors that influences the dependability of an affiliate program. The more of these factors are present in a certain program, the more reasons you get to sign up to the program.

Let’s see…

1. Great quality products. This is a must. How could you promote something you are not proud of?

2. Good affiliate sites.

3. Good comissions. Normally, solid merchants offer more than 25% of comissions.

4. Free to join.

5. Great Supports. Solid merchants usually train their affiliates through training calls, newsletters and other mediums. They also shows your real-time stats and earnings, send you an email whenever a sale is made.

6. Long-term cookie to lock on the visitors to your site. This way you still can make sales if your visitors return to your site months later.

7. Monthly payment with realistic minimum.

8. Two-tier comissions. Some merchants give you comissions on your referrals’ sales. Meaning..if you refer someone to become an affiiate, you can earn comission everytime he makes a sale.

So do some researches before you sign up!
